Biography

Losang W. Benz

I was born in 1956 in Pagri (Tibet). 1950, the Chinese People's Liberation Army raided our Tibetan homeland on the orders from Mao Tsetung. In 1959, our religious leader, the 14th Dalai Lama and many Tibetans escape to India.

In 1959, when I was 3 years old, my mother fled with me to Dharamsala in northern India.

At the age of 7 I came to foster partents in Switzerland.

Experimenting and working with paints, modeling compound and recycled materials such as I love copper and insulation remnants of old and residual cables or even with shards from wine bottle very much.

It is also from time to time very satisfying for me to be able to incorporate my Tibetan roots in some of my works with the thought of never forgetting my homeland.
